KANSAS CITY, MO (July 17, 2006) - The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is pleased to announce that Jane Sung has joined the health policy team in the Association’s Government Affairs office in Washington, D.C. Sung will serve as Health Policy and Legislative Analyst and Counsel. Sung will be responsible for the NAIC’s Senior Issues Task Force, which considers insurance policy issues affecting older Americans, such as Medicare prescription drug coverage, Medicare supplement insurance, retiree health, and other related matters. Sung will report to Brian Webb, Manager for Health, Legislation, and Policy, and Brett Palmer, Managing Director of Government Relations. Sung joins the NAIC with strong experience working on healthcare policy for both federal- and state-elected officials. She has served as Legislative Assistant and, most recently, Senior Policy Advisor for House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) since January 2003. Previously, she worked for former Governor Parris Glendening (D-MD), first in Annapolis and then in Washington, D.C., as federal liaison for health issues. She also worked for the Democratic Governors Association. Sung received her law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law.
