FLIPPO HONORED
WITH NAIC DIAMOND AWARD

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 8, 2009) — The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has honored Financial Program Manager Sherry Flippo, CPA, with the Diamond Award for her contributions to the planning and coordination of the 2008 NAIC Financial Summit. Flippo, who joined the NAIC in 2006, was presented with the award by NAIC Chief Operating Officer and Chief Legal Officer Andrew Beal.

“While the overall success of the Financial Summit was due to the hard work and dedication of a large number of NAIC staff and state insurance regulators,” Beal said, “the financial results of the Financial Summit were mostly attributed to Sherry’s outstanding efforts.”

Flippo contacted industry representatives, state insurance regulators, CPA firms, internal auditing professionals and others to encourage them to attend the Financial Summit and to participate as sponsors. Due to Flippo’s efforts:

  • Total revenue was $43,000 over budget.
  • Expenses were $10,000 under budget.
  • Sponsorship revenues alone were $22,000.

The NAIC Financial Summit is the premiere forum for insurance regulators and the industry to learn about the most pressing solvency issues facing the marketplace. The Financial Summit provides leadership training opportunities and covers the most up-to-date information on international solvency issues, financial reporting and analysis, accreditation and risk-assessment initiatives. • Outstanding leadership, judgment, initiative, competence and negotiation skills.
  • The important, high-profile and complex initiative must positively affect the NAIC and result in the attainment of its mission.
