NAIC COOKS UP SUPPORT FOR
MAMA'S KITCHEN
SAN DIEGO (March 15, 2009) -
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC)
has selected Mama's Kitchen as the official charity for its 2009
Spring National Meeting. Founded in 1990, Mama's Kitchen is a local
charity that delivers "meals and smiles" to the critically ill in
San Diego County.
In addition to making a $1,000 donation, several insurance
regulators will visit Mama's Kitchen on Monday afternoon to help
package the evening meal delivery.
"We are proud to support the good work that the staff and
volunteers at Mama's Kitchen do every day to provide meals for those
with AIDS and other critical illnesses," said NAIC President and New
Hampshire Insurance Commissioner Roger Sevigny. "Especially in these
hard economic times, we are glad to be able give back to a local
charity that fills such a basic need."
Mama's Kitchen prepares and delivers more than 40,000 meals a
year, free of charge, that provide 100 percent of the daily
nutrition recommended by the American Dietetic Association for
people with AIDS. In addition, Mama's Kitchen offers meal plans for
those with special dietary needs caused by such diseases as
diabetes, cancer and other life-threatening health conditions.

The NAIC's charitable program began in 2003. It benefits local,
non-profit charitable organizations in the cities where the NAIC's
quarterly national meetings are held. |
