FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
MARYLAND INSURANCE ADMINISTRATION JOINS SBS
SAN FRANCISCO (Dec. 5, 2009) - The National Association
of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) announced today that the Maryland
Insurance Administration has formally licensed State Based Systems
(SBS), an NAIC owned and operated regulatory tool. With the addition
of Maryland, SBS holds the distinction of being the solution of
choice for more state insurance departments than any other similar
insurance regulatory offering.
"Efficient technology solutions that minimize labor costs are
extremely important in the success of our insurance department,"
said Ralph Tyler, Maryland Insurance Commissioner. "In leveraging
SBS, we can eliminate the costly support of our existing licensing
system and be guaranteed that SBS will comply with all NAIC member
producer licensing-related initiatives. We expect to realize immediate
benefits from the implementation of SBS."
SBS is a solid
Web-based solution that supports all aspects of insurance regulation
via a cohesive user-friendly interface that requires little user
training. The goal of SBS is to provide the highest level of
efficiency at the lowest possible cost to NAIC members.
"The addition of Maryland to the growing list of NAIC members
who have chosen SBS attests to the value of this important state
regulatory tool," said Roger Sevigny, NAIC President and New
Hampshire Insurance Commissioner. "Helping insurance departments
hold down costs while improving operational efficiencies is a major
benefit to everyone that uses the system. SBS is, and will continue
to be, a key NAIC initiative for years to come."
Maryland is the
nineteenth state to join SBS, which includes Alabama, Delaware,
Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, New Hampshire, New
Jersey, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto
Rico, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Washington, D.C. and West
Virginia. |
