NAIC WELCOMES INTERNATIONAL
REGULATORS Representatives from Six Countries Attend
International Exchange Program
Kansas City, MO (Oct. 13, 2010) — The National
Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) welcomed 13 regulators
from China, India, Korea, Lebanon, Republic of Srpska and Thailand
to its International Internship Program for Education and Regulatory
Cooperation. The fall program kicks off in Kansas City, Missouri
this week before the regulators travel to the NAIC Fall National
Meeting in Orlando, Florida next week.
The regulators will
then travel to host states across the country before concluding at
the NAIC Securities Valuation Office in New York City in late
November. The program is structured to give each participant an
overview of the broad principles of U.S. insurance regulation, as
well as technical and specialized application of these principles at
the state level.
States and territories hosting the interns
this fall are the District of Columbia, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri,
New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas and
Virginia.
Started in 2004, the NAIC’s International
Internship Program’s mission is to advance working relations with
foreign markets, emphasizing the exchange of regulatory techniques
and technology. The program is conducted twice a year in the fall
and spring. At the completion of the 2010 fall program, 133
regulators from 23 countries will have participated in the
program. |
