NAIC PROVIDES QUARTERLY LISTING OF ALIEN INSURERS
ON WEBSITE
Surplus Lines Alien Insurer Eligibility Listing Now
Available
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 7, 2011) — The National
Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) announced the Quarterly
Listing of Alien Insurers is now available for reference and download
from the NAIC website.
“Excess and surplus lines brokers and consumers will now be able to access
this listing of eligible non-U.S. surplus lines insurers,” said NAIC Vice
President and Louisiana Insurance Commissioner James J. Donelon. “The
listing provides brokers with a level of assurance regarding the
acceptability of policies quoted or written with these alien insurers.”
The listing, specifically mentioned in the Nonadmitted Insurance title of
the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, identifies
nonadmitted insurers domiciled outside of the United States with which
surplus lines brokers may be confident of insurer eligibility. By way of
reference in the federal legislation, these insurers are provided
recognition on a national basis.
