WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 5, 2013) The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) announced today the State Based Systems (SBS) implementation for Alaska.
“We are excited to implement SBS and gain access to all of the benefits it offers,” said Bret S. Kolb, Director of the Alaska Division of Insurance. “The functionality offered by SBS and its seamless integration with other NAIC initiatives will provide significant productivity gains to the Alaska Insurance Division, our consumers and insurance licensees.”
“Implementing SBS offers a unique opportunity for insurance departments to improve their services without incurring additional costs,” said Jim Donelon, NAIC President and Louisiana Insurance Commissioner. “The Alaska Division of Insurance will soon benefit from the real and measurable impact of SBS from both an efficiency and budgetary perspective.”
In addition to Alaska, SBS is currently the system of choice in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Tennessee, U.S. Virgin Islands and West Virginia. Limited SBS services are also licensed by South Carolina and Virginia.
