NAIC PRESIDENT KEYNOTES TORNADO SUMMIT
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 11, 2013) — National
Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) President and
Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon was invited by Oklahoma
Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak to give a keynote address on
catastrophe preparedness during the National Tornado Summit, hosted
by the Oklahoma Insurance Department. More than 800 attendees registered
for the three-day summit, in Oklahoma City.
“Insurance losses caused by extreme weather can happen at any time,
anywhere,” said Donelon. “That’s why it’s important for consumers to prepare
for the upcoming severe weather season. I encourage everyone to make a home inventory, to
review their insurance policies and to create a disaster action plan with
their family. The NAIC’s home inventory app, myHOME Scr.APP.book,
is free and easy to use. It’s also a good resource for your insurance
agent to help you evaluate your policies before severe weather season
