The Property and Casualty Insurance (C) Committee appointed the Consumer Guides Working Group to review and make modifications to the NAIC Consumer Guide to Auto Insurance and the Consumer Guide to Home Insurance. Recommendations for changes are to be made by the 2008 Winter National Meeting. In addition, the Working Group is to develop best practices for the design and implementation of consumer premium comparison guides for personal auto and homeowners insurance.
The Consumer Guides Working Group plans to complete a basic homeowners guide, with separate guides developed for renters and condominium owners to follow. Information on mobile or manufactured homes would be included in the basic homeowners guide. After all of the property guides are complete, work will begin on an auto insurance guide.
