Financial Policy and Legislation
The Financial Policy and Legislation Team in the Government Relations Office is the point of contact for the NAIC and state insurance departments with Congress and the federal government on financial (non-health) insurance issues.
Federal Relations
The Financial Team monitors congressional and federal regulatory interest and action on matters related to financial (non-health) insurance supervision and products; prepares and circulates legislative summaries and reports to insurance commissioners and state departments; recommends and implements legislative and regulatory strategies; prepares testimony, correspondence and briefing materials; and facilitates communication with and technical assistance to Congress and the federal agencies to advance and preserve state insurance supervision and consumer protections.
State Government Relations
The Financial Team also provides staff support the NAIC Government Affairs (EX) Task Force and the NAIC Industry Liaison Committee and coordinates NAIC interactions with state government associations and groups, including the National Governors’ Association (NGA), the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), and the State Financial Regulators Roundtable (SFRR). |
