Climate Change and Global Warming (EX) Task Force

The Climate Change and Global Warming Task Force met on December 4, 2007. During the meeting, the Task Force adopted a motion that the Climate Change and Global Warming Task Force be authorized to continue working on assignments during the period between the election of new NAIC officers and the appointment of members to the Climate Change and Global Warming Task Force.
The Task Force:
- Heard from Björn Fischer of 3C, a company that provides carbon neutral services, regarding how the European Union and U.S. carbon trading markets function. He also provided information to the Task Force about a joint venture product involving 3C and Allianz called Ecomotion.
- Exposed its white paper Potential Insurance-Related Impacts of Climate Change on Insurance Regulators for comment. A deadline of January 11, 2008 was established for receiving written comments on the report. Commissioner Kreidler indicated the Task Force may convene a Summit before the Spring National Meeting to consider the white paper.
Action Items:
The Task Force:
- Adopted a motion allowing the Task Force to continue working on assignments during the period of time between the election of new NAIC officers and the appointment of members to the Task Force.
- Exposed a white paper called Potential Insurance-Related Impacts of Climate Change on Insurance Regulators. Written comments should be provided by January 11, 2008.
