Government Relations Leadership Council (EX)

The Government Relations Leadership Council (GLRC) met on December 4, 2007.
During the meeting, the GLRC:
- Received an update on TRIA from of the U.S. Department of Treasury
- Received an update on federal health legislation from Josh Goldberg, NAIC Government Relations staff regarding the Children’s Health and Medicare Protection Act (CHAMP), High Risk Pool Funding, Mental Health Parity (MHP), State Flexibility Health Insurance Reform and Long Term Care
- Received an update on federal property and casualty legislation from Ethan Sonnichsen, NAIC Government Relations staff regarding prominent natural catastrophe bond legislation, flood insurance, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA), optional federal charter, surplus lines/reinsurance legislation and the Holocaust Insurance Accountability Act of 2007
Action Items:
1. The GRLC referred H.R. 1065 to the Surplus Lines Task Force and to the Reinsurance Task Force for review and comment to be completed within two weeks.
