Executive (EX) Committee
March 30, 2008
The Executive (EX) Committee met on Sunday, March 30, 2008. During this meeting, the Committee:
- Heard and received reports from its working groups and task forces. (Military Sales Working Group; Principles-Based Reserving Working Group; Climate Change and Global Warming Task Force; Government Relations Leadership Council; and Speed to Market Task Force).
- Adopted the Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Heard a report on States Progress on Annual Financial Reporting Model Regulation.
- Heard Oral Quarterly Reports on Model Law Development Efforts for the following:
- Medical Malpractice Closed Claim Reporting Model Law
- Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association Model Act (Model #540)
- Life and Health Guaranty Association Model Act (#520)
- Uniform Health Carrier External Review Model Act
- Model Regulation to Implement the NAIC Medicare Supplement Minimum Standards Model Act (#651)
- Preneed Life Insurance Minimum Standards for Determining Reserve Liabilities and Nonforfeiture Values Model Regulation.
- Model Regulation to Define Standards ad Commissioner’s Authority for Companies Deemed to be in Hazardous Financial Condition.
- Adopted the report of the Internal Administration (EX1) Subcommittee of March 29, 2008.
- Adopted 2008 Amended Charges, which include the following amendments:
- The International Insurance Relations (G) Committee will create a new working group to work on microinsurance issues;
- The Financial Condition (E) Committee will craft any necessary changes to the regulation of financial guaranty (bond) insurers for recommendation to the Executive (EX) Committee;
- The NARAB Working Group was created to address the reciprocity issues raised in the producer licensing assessment aggregate report and will report to the Executive (EX) Committee; and
- The Market Conduct and Consumer Affairs (D) Committee has charged the Producer Licensing Working Group with addressing matters raised during the producer licensing assessment.
- Received the report of the NIPR Board of Directors.
- Received and ratified the report of the SERFF Board of Directors.
- Received the report of the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission.
