Information Resources Management (H) Committee
March 29, 2008
The Information Resources (H) Management Committee met on Saturday, March 29,
2008.
During this meeting, the committee:
- Received a quarterly update for committee-approved IT project requests.
The committee is currently tracking four IT projects. The active projects
include: 1) State Producer Licensing Reengineering; 2) Enhancements of a Solvency
Tool; 3) Enhancements to the Online Fraud Reporting System; and 4) Enhancements
to the Market Analysis Review System.
- The committee heard a report from its Technical Consulting Working Group.
This group is working with NAIC staff on an implementation plan to transition
traffic between the NAIC and states from the NAIC's Private State Data Network
to the Internet as part of a cost-savings initiative approved for the 2008
budget and beyond. The plan calls for implementation on a state-by-state basis.
All direct connectivity to NAIC databases will require encryption starting
on April 10, 2008, and NAIC has notified states on how to update their systems.
Testing is scheduled from March 31 to June 30, 2008. Starting July 7, 2008,
five states will be migrated each week ending by September 19, 2008.
- The committee also heard a report from the Information Systems (H) Task
Force on several ongoing IT projects.
Action Items:
The committee adopted reports of its Task Force and the Technical Considerations
Working Group and no other action was taken.
