The Suitability of Annuity Sales (A) Working Group of the Life Insurance and Annuities (A) Committee met June 12 and 13.

During this meeting, the Working Group:

  • Heard a presentation from industry representatives concerning company annuity distribution systems.
  • Reviewed and discussed a new discussion draft of proposed revisions to the Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation. After discussing and receiving comments on issues from regulators and interested parties, which had been raised concerning certain provisions in the discussion draft, the Working Group voted to distribute an exposure draft for comment within the next few weeks.

Action Items:

1. Voted to distribute for comment an exposure draft of proposed revisions to the Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation.
