Summer 2009 Meeting Summaries Index

The Statistical (C) Subgroup met March 31, April 21 and May 18 to review the draft Guideline for Implementation of Medical Professional Liability Closed Claim Reporting, which supplements the model law. The Subgroup is focusing on Part A of the guideline and have exposed for comment a June 8 draft of Part A, which is available on the NAIC Web site.

The Subgroup is still anticipating a letter from the Life and Health Actuarial Task Force to request aid with the mandatory statistical reporting for principles-based reserving. Expectations are that the request will inquire about the property/casualty process, how regulators work with statistical agents, how statistical agents are appointed, how parties are paid and how data is kept confidential, etc.

Similar to the Commercial Lines Competition Database Report, a Personal Lines Competition Database Report is being developed by the Subgroup. Expectations are to have a draft of the publication ready for discussion by the Task Force in the next quarter.
