The Multi-State Surplus Lines Premium Tax (C) Working Group met via conference call on February 26, 2009, and was not included in a first quarter summary. During the call, the Working Group discussed and approved additional refinements to a Surplus Lines Survey developed to gauge the complexity of state processes related to surplus lines premium taxes and documentation, and to identify state statutes that control many of these processes.

Subsequent to the February conference call, the Working Group in late March approved the survey final format and authorized the distribution to all states. Responses continued to be received throughout May. The survey responses are being tabulated and interpreted and a summary of results is expected to be shared at the Working Group’s next conference call.
