Summer 2009 Meeting Summaries Index
The Market Analysis Procedures (D) Working Group (MAP) met via conference call April 23 and June 4.
During the April 23 meeting, the Working Group:
- Discussed the Level 1 Analysis minimum requirements. It was decided to not change the requirements for this data-collection year or next. The Working Group feels the requirements would be more appropriately addressed by the Specials Accreditation Standards (D) Working Group, as that working group considers the standards of the accreditation process.
- Discussed the Complaint Database System (CDS) manual. Revisions are expected to be completed and ready for MAP approval at the next meeting. An update was received from the CDS Focus Group.
- Received an update from Randy Helder (NAIC) on the Market Analysis Research and Development (MARD) Focus Group. Changes to the MIS reports will be released this summer. A decision was made to limit the data imported into the Market Analysis Prioritization Tool (MAPT) to three years. The number of MAPT report options presented to the analysts will be increased in order to limit the size of the reports, while maintaining access to same amount of data. Finally, a process will be developed to notify analysts when a data concern or system problem is discovered concerning the validity of data within the Market Analysis systems. Said notice will be posted to MyNAIC.
- Discussed the Market Regulation Handbook and the goal of revising the market analysis sections.
- Discussed developing a priority list of new data elements and lines of business for analysis. A discussion group was formed, and the goals of this task were outlined.
- Received an update from Trish Skahan (NAIC) concerning the recent and future enhancements to MARS.
During the June 4 meeting, the Working Group:
- Discussed the CDS manual. The Working Group agreed to a definition for “inquiry.” Revisions to the CDS manual were adopted and will be presented to the Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs (D) Committee at the Summer National Meeting.
