The International Insurance Relations (G) Committee met Dec. 6, 2009. During this meeting, the Committee:

• Received an update on the International Strategy and Action Plan.
  

• Adopted the International Regulatory Cooperation (G) Working Group report. Heard an update from Robert Easton (NY) about revised dates for the NAIC International Internship Program in 2010; a proposed new international curriculum; the recently held meeting of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS)-Micro-Insurance Network (MIN) Joint Working Group; and reports on bilateral and regional developments, focused on Asia and Latin America.

• Adopted the NAFTA (G) Working Group report. Heard an update from Director Christina Urias (AZ) about the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)-U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. She notified the Committee that the NAFTA Working Group sent a letter of response to the DOT, and that the NAFTA Trilateral Working Group would be meeting tomorrow.

• Received a report from Yoshi Kawai (International Association of Insurance Supervisors—IAIS) on IAIS initiatives and strategic planning.

• Received a report from the Solvency Modernization Initiative (EX) Task Force.
  

• Received a report on the Joint Forum.
  

• Received a report on the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Insurance and Private Pensions Committee.

• Received a report on the Financial Sector Assessment Program.
  

• Received a report on U.S.-Japan initiatives.
  

• Heard a presentation about EU equivalence from the Group of North American Insurance Enterprises.
