Winter 2009 Meeting Summaries Index

The Life and Health Actuarial Task Force met Dec. 3 - 4, 2009. During this meeting, the Task Force:

  • Received a report from the Society of Actuaries (SOA)/American Academy of Actuaries (AAA) Joint Project Oversight Group regarding margins.
  • Received a report from the SOA/AAA Joint Payout Annuity Project Oversight Group on the development of a new payout annuity mortality table.
  • Received a report from the AAA Nonforfeiture Improvement Work Group.
  • Received a report from the AAA Life Reserves Work Group Asset Subgroup on the default costs on existing assets for section VM-20 of the Valuation Manual.
  • Discussed implementation issues for Actuarial Guideline XLIII:
    • Actuarial Guideline XLIII was amended and adopted.
    • Guidance on Interrogatory 9.2 and Exhibit 5 was adopted.
  • Discussed a presentation by the American Council of Life Insurers regarding an additional net premium reserve methodology for VM-20, the section of the Valuation Manual for life insurance products.
  • Received a report from the Accident and Health Working Group.
  • Received reports from subgroups on various portions of the Valuation Manual, subject to legal review.
    • VM-00 was amended and adopted.
    • VM-21 was amended and adopted.
    • VM-26 was adopted.
    • VM-30 was amended and adopted.
