Winter 2009 Meeting Summaries Index
The NAIC/State Government Liaison Committee met Dec. 5, 2009. The following state officials were in attendance: Rep. Robert Damron (KY) and Rep. Brian Kennedy (RI). During this meeting, the Committee:
- Received a report from Moira Campion (NAIC) on federal activity related to financial regulatory reform. Ms. Campion outlined the insurance provisions of H.R. 4173, The Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009, and updated the Committee on the status of the U.S. Senate draft, the Restoring American Financial Stability Act.
- Discussed the National Insurance Supervisory Commission proposal. Commissioner Roger A. Sevigny (NH) led the discussion, with Directors Mary Jo Hudson (OH) and Michael T. McRaith (IL) providing an outline of the draft proposal and focusing on planned efforts to contact interested parties and legislators in 2010.
- Received an update on the NAIC Market Conduct Annual Statement (MCAS) proposal from Commissioner Kim Holland (OK).
- Received an update on the NIPR from Director Linda S. Hall (AK).
- Received an update on the IIPRC from Director Hudson.
