Introduction to the State Data Mart

The State Data Mart is an early access database for states to begin examination and creation of programs for the upcoming financial data year for Life and Property business types. The State Data Mart is a structured Oracle work area where Developers can prepare for the upcoming Annual Statement year by building and  maintaining queries in MS-Access. This Database will include approximately 120 companies' financial records with tables matching what the Production Database will look like in the upcoming year. Instructions are available on the I-SITE File Repository.  The file name is "state_data_mart.doc".

Life and Property will now also have "current year" (CY) tables available that will assist with maintaining queries from year to year. In addition a new Licensed Company table that is Current Year as well as State Specific is now available.

Set up

In order to connect to this new Database once you have acquired an ID and Password, you will need to append the new information to your existing tnsnames.ora file. This file called tnsname.ora can be downloaded from the NAIC I-SITE File Repository. If you do not have an existing tnsnames.ora file, and need help setting one up, please download the Oracle Complete Instructions document from the File Repository as well.

A new Data Source will need to be added to the Oracle Data Source Administrator. This new Data Source name is called "NEXTYEAR". The Data Source Service Name is NEXTYEAR. If you need additional help configuring Data Sources in Oracle ODBC Administrator refer to the Oracle Complete Instructions document on the I-SITE File Repository.
