The NAIC offers three methods of computer training to give you a complete range of choices to meet your training needs. On-site training brings the NAIC instructors to you. Internet, web based training reaches out to your department of insurance from the NAIC Executive Headquarters in Kansas City. Then you have the option of sending members of your staff to Kansas City for training in our state of the art equipped computer-training classroom. Each method offers its own unique set of benefits geared toward meeting your training requirements.
There is no fee for computer training courses offered by the NAIC State Training Team. The NAIC only asks that departments of insurance reimburse the trainers for travel expenses incurred. The courses offered by the NAIC State Training Team are for department of insurance personnel only. The training team instructors are specialists who are focused on your specific training needs.
Instructors from the NAIC State Training Team will travel to your state to deliver training for the courses you have selected. Training is usually conducted within the department of insurance offices. Occasionally, depending on the circumstances, the training is held at a third party training facility.
Training materials are shipped to your offices in advance. The lead trainer will coordinate the details with the department of insurance. This includes scheduling the training dates, preparing an agenda that fits your office hours, reserving a training room and configuring computers.
The greatest benefit to on-site training is that many people can be trained for minimal cost. Sending two trainers to your office is very cost effective when compared to sending even three regulators out of town for training. Staff members may participate in just the class they need and the return to their workspace. There is no work lost due to travel time.
Web based training is delivered over the Internet in conjunction with telephone conferencing. This type of training is ideal for courses that are short in duration. The NAC uses Netspoke and Chorus Call to provide the web based training. Your staff logs in to the class over the Internet. Then the trainee calls a toll-free number to join a teleconference. There is direct communication between the person attending the training and the instructor.
The greatest benefit here is that there is no expense associated with web based training. Staff attending the session does not even have to leave their desk to improve their skills.
The NAIC Computer Training Center is located at the NAIC Executive Headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. Invitations to training are sent to departments of insurance from time to time throughout the year. Your staff travels to Kansas City and stays at a full service hotel next to the NAIC offices. A common parking garage joins the two buildings.
The greatest benefit to training in Kansas City is you get to meet with regulators from other states. You can share ideas and methods to help you improve efficiencies within you own department of insurance.
