International Trade

Through the International Insurance Relations (G) Committee, the NAIC represents the interests of state insurance regulators in discussions between the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and various trading partners. NAIC members provide valuable insights from the insurance regulatory perspective in multilateral and bilateral trade negotiations by attending meetings with appropriate federal representatives and by reviewing and commenting on documents provided by the USTR.

The Committee further assists officials from USTR, the Commerce Department and other U.S. government agencies as requested by responding to requests for information, and engaging in implementation efforts under existing trade agreements. The Committee also provides support to the NAIC Federal Relations staff on international trade issues related to federal legislative and regulatory proposals.
