About

The NIPR Gateway is a communication network that links state insurance regulators with the entities they regulate to facilitate the electronic exchange of producer information. Data standards will be developed for the exchange of license application, license renewal, appointment and termination information. All data flowing over the Gateway will conform to these standards. The key benefits of the NIPR Gateway are:

• Reduction in paperwork and data entry
• Development of national standards regarding electronic transmission of licensing data
• Faster turnaround time

Electronic transmission  will be implemented in the following phases:

• Phase 1: support the electronic transmission of a) appointments and terminations b) notification that the state received the appointment/termination and c) confirmation that the state either accepted or rejected the appointment
• Phase 2: support Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
• Other Phases: support the electronic transmission of non-resident and resident licenses and license renewals.
