Two States Achieve Accreditation

The NAIC Financial Regulation Standards and Accreditation (F) Committee voted to accredit the South Dakota and New Hampshire departments. Accredited insurance departments undergo comprehensive, independent review every five years to ensure they meet financial solvency oversight standards.

New Member: Welcome Commissioner Elias

John Elias was appointed Commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Insurance, effective June 10, 2018.

Commissioner Elias has more than 15 years of insurance industry experience and joined the New Hampshire Insurance Department in 2016 as the Property and Casualty Director.

He was promoted soon thereafter to Assistant Commissioner. Elias has also served on several NAIC committees and task forces and has been involved in the NAIC State Ahead strategic plan.

CIPR Hosts Regulation and Innovation Event

More than 350 regulators, consumer representatives and industry stakeholders discussed regulation and innovation during the Center for Insurance Policy and Research's (CIPR) summer event. "Can Regulation Keep up with Innovation?" was held Aug. 6 during the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Summer 2018 National Meeting.
