Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Business Entities

Organizational Documents

  • Attach completed application for each agent to be licensed under the agency

Other Requirements

  • Attach a check* or money order for $35** (this includes Agency Administration Fee) 

    *Checks payable to Arkansas Ins Dept Trust Fund
    **License fee (must be paid by the agent)

  • Add a $35 fee for each agent on the agency that is not already licensed in AR as a non-resident agency has more than one agent listed, an additional $30.00 is required for each additional agent.

    Include Letter of Certification (within 90 days of issuance)

Appointment Requirements After Licensing

Social Security Number Disclosure

  1. We are required to obtain Social Security Numbers in connection with your application for occupational and professional licenses to comply with federal law as set out in 42 U.S.C. §§ 450(c)(2)(C)(i), 654, and 666, and by state law under Ark. Code Ann. § 17-1-104. Your Social Security Number may then be used for the purposes set forth in those statutes, including the enforcement of spousal and child support orders and paternity determinations, and the administration of tax systems, and may be shared with the agencies which have responsibility for those matters. Your Social Security Number will not appear on the face of your license, but will be kept on file by the Arkansas Insurance Department with your license information.
  2. We are required to obtain Social Security Numbers in connection with your application for occupational and professional licenses to comply with federal law as set out in 42 U.S.C. §§ 450(c)(2)(C)(i), 654, and 666, and by state law under Ark. Code Ann. § 17-1-104. Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Individuals

Other Requirements

  • A $70 administrative fee must be paid by applicant with personal or agency check (both agent and broker).
  • All Checks are made payable to the Arkansas Insurance Department Trust Fund.

  • Appointments are requested by the appointing insurance company after the license is issued.

Resident Licensing Checklist for Business Entities

Limitations

  • Arkansas only licenses business entities for partnerships, corporations, limited liability companies and limited liability partnerships. Arkansas does not license sole-proprietors.

Organizational Documents

  • Corporations, LLC, and LLP's must have articles of organization or articles of membership.

Producers

  • All producers who will be producing business for the agency must be added to the agency license.

Fees

  • $35.00 license fee
  • $15.00 if property/casualty line of authority is requested for agency (not needed for life and health). 
  • $10.00 for each producer added to the license (we do not charge for the first producer

Payment

  • Checks must be made payable to the Arkansas Insurance Department Trust Funds. All check must be imprinted with the name of the account---we cannot accept temporary or counter checks.

Resident Licensing Checklist for Individuals

Other Requirements

  • Attach company check, cashier's check, certified check or money order made payable to Promissor.

    1 producer exam $82.00
    2 producer exams (multiple lines) $-94.00

Affirmative answers to questions 36 (1,2,3,4,5, 6, 7) must have documentation attached to the application. Failure to submit documentation will cause the application to be returned unprocessed.

Once the exam permit is issued the applicant must call Promissor at 888-204-6259 to set the place and time of the exam. Exam sites are located in Memphis, TN, Texarkana AR/TX, Springdale, AR and Little Rock, AR.

Applicants must bring proof of completion of pre-licensing education at the time of the exam. If the certification of pre-license completion is not presented at the time of the exam, the applicant will not be allowed to sit for the exam.

Exam fees are non-refundable.
