Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Business Entities

Appointment Requirements

  • Appointments are to be done electronically by the Insurer. Please contact your in-house licensing administrator for further instructions.

Other Requirements

  • Must be licensed in good standing in the agency's home state for all lines for which the agency is applying for a non-resident license.
  • Per UAC R590-244, additional documentation in connection with applications must be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
  • In reference to question 25 on the business application, Utah does not require that the agent designated to act on behalf of the business entity be an officer or partner in the business entity.  The designee need only be licensed as a licensed producer in the state.
  • Utah's required method of application for Non-Residents is electronic. Licenses must be applied for on-line and paid for with an e-check or a major credit card.
  • To verify that the license has been approved and processed go to www.insurance.utah.gov and click on 'Search for Company & Agent'.
  • To obtain a hard copy once license is processed, go to www.sircon.com/utah and click on 'Print Your License'.
  • Third Party Administrator applicants must submit documentation of the insurance policy or surety bond as required by Utah Code Annotated Section 31A-25-205. Submit by email to caburton@utah.gov or by fax, Attn: Cathy Burton at 801-538-3830.

Non-Resident Licensing Checklist for Individuals

Appointment Requirements

  • Appointments are to be done electronically by the Insurer. Please contact your in-house licensing administrator for further instructions.

Other Requirements

  • Must be licensed in good standing in your home state for all lines for which you are applying for a non-resident license.
  • Per UAC R590-244, additional documentation in connection with applications must be submitted via the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
  • FINRA Status requirements: Prior to applying for a Variable Contracts license, an individual must be properly licensed as a Securities broker-dealer or agent and the FINRA Central Registration Depository (CRD) report must reflect that the individual is "Approved" to do business in Utah.
  • Utah's required method of application for Non-Residents is electronic. Licenses can be applied for on-line and paid for with an e-check or a major credit card.
  • To verify that the license has been approved and processed go to www.insurance.utah.gov and click on 'Search for Company & Agent'.
  • To obtain a hard copy once license is processed, go to www.sircon.com/utah and click on 'Print Your License'.

  • Submit application online at www.sircon.com/utah. The fee is $85.00 for an initial agency license; $25.00 for adding line(s) of authority to an existing license. Fees are paid with an e-check or major credit card.

Resident Licensing Checklist for Individuals

Appointment Requirements

Other Requirements

  • Submit license application online at www.sircon.com/utah. The application fee is $75.00 for an initial full line individual license; $50.00 for an initial limited line individual license; and $25.00 for adding line(s) of authority to an existing license. Individuals applying for an initial resident insurance license must also be fingerprinted for a criminal background check. Fingerprinting is to be done at a Prometric test center, using "live scan" technology. Fingerprint fee of $39.25 to be paid in addition to the license application fee at the time of application. There will also be a separate $20 fingerprint processing fee required by Prometric at time of scheduling the fingerprint
