On behalf of the people of Hawaii, I extend my heartfelt aloha to all attendees of the Fall 2017 National Meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The NAIC last met in Hawaii over 20 years ago so I am especially pleased to welcome everyone back to the Aloha State.
Founded in 1871, NAIC brings together chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories to share new ideas and best practices for regulating insurance companies to protect the American people. This meeting gives you an opportunity to network with your colleagues, participate in various committee meetings, and further the goals of NAIC.
I encourage you to participate in the NAIC Walk for Well-Being Challenge in beautiful Waikiki, hosted by the Hawaii Medical Service Association and Sharecare. Enjoy these outdoor activities in the healthiest state in the nation.
I send my best wishes for an enjoyable and productive meeting, and I hope that you find time to experience the people, place, and culture of our island home during your stay. Mahalo for selecting Hawaii as your meeting site and I hope that you will come back again soon.
With warmest regards,
David Y. Ige
Governor, State of Hawaii
