NAIC 2009 ANNUAL REPORT: "IN FOCUS"
DENVER (March 27, 2010) — The National
Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) today released its
2009 Annual Report, "In Focus." Using a photography theme, the
report reviews the NAIC's accomplishments during the past year,
summarizing how state insurance regulators have maintained
perspective and balance during a challenging economic period.
"With clarity and focus, state regulators continue to meet the
ever-developing changes and challenges of the regulatory landscape,"
said Therese M. (Terri) Vaughan, Ph.D., NAIC Chief Executive
Officer. "This past year exposed the inherent strength of our
national system of state-based insurance regulation that includes
strong consumer protections and solvency standards."
"Our
financial statements reflect our continued commitment to fiscal
responsibility and transparency," said Brady Kelley, NAIC Chief
Financial and Business Strategy Officer. “We are pleased to report
the NAIC exceeded budget expectations by $284,338 and performed
within $13,349 (.02%) of the projections published in
mid-2009.”
To better illustrate, the Annual Report provides
