NAIC LAUNCHES ANDROID
HOME INVENTORY APP
Enhanced iPhone Version Also Available
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 25, 2011) — The National
Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has launched an Android
version of its popular myHOME Scr.APP.book app. Available now in the
Android Marketplace, this version was developed as a result of strong
consumer interest in the iPhone® version of the application, launched in
March.
Like the iPhone® app, the Android version allows users to create a home
inventory to make sure their possessions are fully documented and
protected. The free app lets users quickly photograph and capture images,
descriptions and serial numbers, and stores the information electronically
for safekeeping. The app organizes everything by room and category, and
creates a back-up file for e-mail sharing.
The original iPhone® app has also undergone several notable enhancements.
In response to user feedback, the upgrades include performance enhancements
and improved management of photos. In addition, users can now create an
archive through a PDF or e-book of their home inventory that includes
photos and descriptions.
"Mobile devices and applications are significantly expanding
consumer access to time-saving and possibly life-saving tools. Pocket-sized
technology is also helping us reach younger consumers, in addition to those
who now have more affordable access to the Internet and Web-based
services," said Susan E. Voss, NAIC President and Iowa Insurance
Commissioner. "We are pleased to broaden our resources for consumers
who want a convenient tool to document their possessions."
The myHOME Scr.APP.book app is available through iTunes® and
the Android Marketplace or use the links below.
