FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NAIC LAUNCHES EDUCATIONAL HEALTH VIDEO
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 15, 2011) — To enhance its
ongoing effort to provide clarity on the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act (PPACA), the National Association of Insurance Commissioners
(NAIC) has developed a brief, educational video to address frequently asked
questions from consumers.
The eight-minute video features Sandy Praeger, Chair of the Health
Insurance and Managed Care Committee and Kansas Insurance Commissioner, and
Monica J. Lindeen, Vice Chair of the Health Insurance and Managed Care
Committee and Montana Insurance Commissioner. In addition to addressing
important implementation dates, the video discusses specific concerns
regarding the uninsured, senior citizens and the self-employed. Subjects covered
by the video include:
- Individual and
employer mandates
- Pre-existing
conditions
- Health care
exchanges
- Preventive care
measures
- Medicare
“We hope consumers and organizations will find this educational video
useful as we outline the realities of the health care law,” said Praeger.
“Our goal is to provide unbiased and factual information to convey the real
impact on individuals, families and business owners.”
“This video is just one more way state regulators are working to provide
reliable facts to consumers,” said Lindeen. “This video will augment other
resources we have made available to the public, such as the health
care implementation chart and the more comprehensive FAQ
section on the NAIC website.”
