The NAIC's Market Analysis Priorities Working Group (MAP) is the national forum for states to share and coordinate their market analysis programs. MAP reviews and coordinates state market analysis programs and sets priorities for uniform, nationwide analysis. For 2008, MAP is charged with:
- Reviewing and submitting recommended changes to the market analysis portions of the Market Regulation Handbook. This includes adding new language regarding how to perform baseline analysis and developing new language regarding how to develop an effective Department of Insurance Market Analysis Division,
- Reviewing the statutory annual statement and submitting recommended data elements that would enhance the market analysis process,
- Reviewing and submitting recommended changes to the Market Conduct Annual Statement's (MCAS) definitions, and
- Reviewing and approving recommendations regarding the market analysis tools once approved by the Market Analysis Research and Development Focus Group (MARD).
- Completing the revisions and enhancements to the NAIC complaint codes, the NAIC complaint manual and developing a timeline for state implementation of code changes by the NAIC Winter National Meeting.
MAP is chaired by Christina Goe (MT) and vice-chaired by Luther Ellis (DC). MAP works closely with the Market Analysis (D) Working Group (MAWG) and the Market Regulation Handbook (D) Working Group.
MARD
The Market Analysis Research & Development Subgroup (MARD) is a focus group reporting to MAP that is charged with (1) overseeing enhancements to the NAIC Market Analysis Company Listings, Market Analysis Prioritization Tool, Market Analysis Review System, Market Initiative Tracking System, Market Analysis Profile Reports, Market Analysis Share Reports, and Market Analysis Profile Demographics, (2) overseeing the setting of the weights in the Market Analysis Prioritization Tool, and (3) overseeing the development of design queries against NAIC market databases.
MCAS

MACs
The Market Analysis Chief (MAC) is the principal liaison with the NAIC Market Analysis Department and the MAP (D) Working Group and is responsible for communication with other work units within the department. This person is responsible for baseline analysis of key lines of business and responsible, together with the CAD, for communicating with other state departments via the Market Regulation and Market Analysis Electronic Forums (Bulletin Boards).
Improving Analysis
MAP and MARD are charged with developing and enhancing all phases of market analysis, including improvements to data collection and quality and enhancements to market analysis systems.
