Summer 2009 Meeting Summaries Index
The Advisory Organization Examination Oversight (C) Working Group did not meet since the Spring National Meeting. However, the activities of the Working Group were discussed at Commissioner Roundtable on June 14. The purpose of the Working Group is to establish examination protocols and actively assist with and coordinate multi-state examinations of advisory organizations and statistical agents. As proposed, the functions of the Working Group would have some of the same types of coordination functions as the Market Actions Working Group (MAWG) and the Financial Analysis Working Group (FAWG); however, membership is open to all states. It is the desire of the Working Group to have the full support of all members in having one state conduct an examination of an advisory organization or statistical agent, with each of the states accepting the results. Since numerous examinations would not be conducted, the benefits would be cost-effective, and all states have an interest in the outcome of the examination. This process sets the stage for uniformity and multi-state cooperation in the examination process.
The upcoming work of the Working Group includes:
- Obtaining an appropriate contact list from each DOI and developing a Bulletin Board or other appropriate means of communication.
- Monitoring data reporting of rating or advisory organization data collection processes to determine if rating or advisory organizations implement appropriate measures to ensure data quality, plus reporting the results of this ongoing charge as needed.
- Discussing revisions to Chapter 25 of the Market Regulation Handbook as needed.
