The Reinsurance (E) Task Force met Sept. 24, 2009.

During this meeting, the Task Force:

• Adopted minutes from its Sept. 15 interim meeting. During the Sept. 15 meeting, the Task Force adopted the Reinsurance Regulatory Modernization Act of 2009, and agreed to send the legislation to the Government Relations Leadership Council for its immediate review and consideration of next steps, including direct submission of the legislation to Congress for further action. This federal legislation is the first step in implementing the Reinsurance Regulatory Modernization Framework that was adopted by Plenary in December 2008.

• Adopted its 2010 charges as amended.

• Received a report from NAIC staff on developments in Congress with respect to reinsurance-related issues.

• Received an update from Robert Meindl, vice-chair of the Reinsurance and Other Forms of Risk Transfer Subcommittee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), on the current work of the IAIS with respect to reinsurance.

• Received an update from the Property and Casualty Reinsurance Study Group.
