Eric Cioppa is the Superintendent of the Bureau of Insurance, Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. He joined the Bureau in 1988 as a statistician III and served as the Supervisor of the Worker’s Compensation Section prior to becoming Deputy in 1998. He served as Acting Superintendent beginning June 1, 2011 and was sworn in as Superintendent on September 28, 2011. He is responsible for the Examination, Market Conduct, Financial Analysis, Alternative Risk Markets, Producer Licensing, Administrative Support Unit, and Research and Statistics Units of the Bureau. Currently serves as co-chair of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions joint working group. He also is currently the co-chair of the NAIC Advisory Organization Exam Oversight Group. Cioppa received his BA from Potsdam State University and his MBA from Clarkson. |
